It’s rare to see father-and-son musicians play jazz together. When they do, there’s often an almost palpable sense of telepathy on display, as if somehow in the genetic transmission and upbringing, there were some unspoken secrets of the craft that were passed along. If you’ve been in attendance at any Steinkoler Trio shows, you witnessed a memorable night of music, full of inspired and sympathetic playing, lots of bobbing heads and big smiles. Evan Steinkoler is an up-and-coming young pianist, vocalist, and composer with terrific dynamic range, inventive soloing, and a feel for and command of the instrument well beyond his years. He was the winner of the Dick Conte Piano Scholarship Award in 2023 and has performed at jazz festivals across Europe. Evan is joined by his father Jeremy Steinkoler on drums and the masterful Sam Bevan on bass.
