Gioachino Rossini's effervescent comedy, 'Il Barbiere di Siviglia,' returns to the stage in Bartlett Sher's vibrant production. Mezzo-soprano Aigul Akhmetshina stars as the spirited heroine, Rosina, alongside tenor Jack Swanson, making his Met debut as her secret love, Count Almaviva. The cast also includes baritone Andrey Zhilikhovsky as Figaro, the barber of Seville, and bass-baritone Peter Kálmán as Dr. Bartolo. Conducted by Giacomo Sagripanti, this live cinema event is a part of the Met's award-winning 'Live in HD' series, bringing the magic of opera to theaters worldwide. English StreamText captioning will be available, and tickets can also be bought for live performances in the opera house.

Bohème Out of the Box

San Francisco Opera is taking opera out of the Opera House for Bohème Out of the Box. These free, live performances of an abridged version of Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohème, featuring powerful emotions and soaring arias, will travel to outdoor locations throughout the Bay Area this spring. Directed by Jose Maria Condemi, the performances will be sung in Italian with live English translations available on smartphones. Families with young children are invited to participate in a First Act Workshop before the show. Performance dates, time, and locations are subject to change.
