Part of the 2025 CAAMFest series, 'Softshell' is Jinho Myung's debut feature capturing the awkwardness of early adulthood as two siblings, Jamie and Narin, navigate their lives after their mother's death. Set against the backdrop of New York, the film explores themes of cultural identity and family connections through the siblings' tender banter and experiences. Shot in grainy 16mm, it combines Mumblecore aesthetics with surreal humor and poignant moments, delivering a uniquely vibrant perspective on American indie cinema. The film won the Belfort International Film Festival Grand Prix Janine Bazin Juried Prize.
