The Angel Island Project presented by Oakland Ballet features a live musical accompaniment by Del Sol Quartet and Volti, conducted by Dr. Wei Cheng. This event is a collaboration with the Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation and Angel Island Parks and Recreation, showcasing a dance work inspired by the oratorio 'Angel Island' composed by Huang Ruo. The production features twelve dancers from the Oakland Ballet Company and includes contributions from multiple Asian American Pacific Islander choreographers. The performance is scored for a string quartet, sixteen singers, and a narrator, reflecting on poetry carved by detainees at the immigration station between 1910 and 1940.
